Chinese ancient ceramics have a long history. As early as the Neolithic Age, the working people of our country have been making and using pottery. With the development of society and the improvement of productivity levels, in the Shang and Zhou dynasties, printed hard pottery and primitive celadon were created and fired.
Porcelain is an outstanding creation of the Chinese nation to world civilization. By the Eastern Han Dynasty, porcelain technology had reached maturity. As the wheel of history rolls, the ceramic industry developed rapidly during the Six Dynasties period.
During the Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties, there were many famous kilns in the north and south of the Yangtze River. The celadon in the south was as green as a thousand peaks, and the white porcelain in the north was as silver as snow. Especially in the Song Dynasty, the porcelain showed a flourishing scene of a hundred flowers blooming.
The Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties were the heydays of the development of my country's ceramic industry. Blue and white porcelain, colored porcelain, glazed porcelain of various colors, and purple clay ware that appeared in the Ming and Qing Dynasties brought my country's ceramic craftsmanship to the highest level in history.
Zhenjiang Museum has collected tens of thousands of ceramics through archaeological excavations, social donations, etc., and now selects representative and different varieties of treasures from past dynasties, allowing the audience to have a glimpse and appreciate the exquisiteness of Chinese ceramics. .
